Making history from the ground up

Tell us your story

History is often written by an author with no direct experience of the part of the past he or she is studying. While this perspective has its advantages, it can never replace the understanding that comes from having lived through an event. This section of the site invites blackout "survivors" and other knowledgeable visitors to contribute their memories and to engage each other actively in conversation so that we may understand a part of the past that bound together the diverse lives of millions of people into an unforgettable collective experience.

If your memory or knowledge of any of the blackouts is especially extensive, please complete one of our on-line surveys and contact us for an interview to be conducted at your convenience by phone or in person. If you have any materials dating back to the 1965 or 1977 blackout, we'd appreciate the chance to digitally copy and incorporate them into the Blackout archive.
